The note about Windows User-Mode Scheduling is really neat - it makes mmap much more usable when you can switch out on a page fault. Is there such a thing available for Linux?

There is no User-Mode scheduling in the Linux Kernel to my knowledge, but the video[1] mentioned the post describes Linux patches that add support for it.

Shame. mmap is so handy, but blocking on page faults makes it annoying to work with.
