It ought to be a surprise. It certainly is contrary to all the rhetoric that I swallowed hook, line and sinker in high school about what kind of country the USA is.

I'm willing to bet that Chomsky was not surprised one bit by these revelations.



Hell, according to line I was sold, Chomsky would have fit right in with the founding fathers. That's also assuming you can believe history.

By today's standards, many of the founding fathers would be deemed "terrorists" or "enemies of the state [kingdom]".

A nation naturally seeks to preserve itself, so perhaps that's not surprising, but it's worth pondering for a moment.
