It's Official: XNA is dead
Luckily that XNA experience transfers over to MonoGame and the general principles of basic game programming are quite universal. A lot of aspiring game developers have got their feet wet thanks to XNA.

Yeah, XNA was great, Microsoft handling it, less so.
