I moved schools in the middle of 7th grade, and my new school made a big deal about "grandfathering" me in to letting me take both Home Ec and Shop the semester I moved, because ordinarily they wouldn't let someone take both. They were both easily the most valuable classes I ended up taking, as far as my daily life goes.
I think that's a wonderful because both genders are forced to learn skills that can be helpful in life.
