Not surprising -- work can really suck the life out of you. Older generations seem to have largely responded to this by pretending it didn't and then becoming cynical jerks ( see other comments in the post ). The honesty is refreshing... though unfortunately, the advice they're going to get from any peers is likely just to be "yeah, you'll get used to it".

it is unfortunate, as many things do not legitimately need to be gotten used to, over, or through. it is merely what has been done before.

IMO, one reason work is worse now is because companies are more focused on short-term profits and don't care as much about workers as they used to. Workers (just my opinion) used to matter more as people. Now workers are an accounting entry.

The poor, poor things.

at least they aren’t lying to themselves about it based upon social norms, like is more common in older generations.

those poor things often suffer in silence or in substance while smiling or gritting their teeth.

and how are you on this fine day?

Poor, poor things.
