The scenario described in the post above on Worldbuilding Stackexchange is completely fictitious, as should be evinced by dates that are in the future (2022, 2023, 2024, etc.).
Still, I think it's an interesting question; a highly interesting thought experiment...
To recap, the question from the above post was:
