To me the thing that visual programming excels at is parallelism. Traditional procedural languages are fundamentally one-dimensional, and parallelism is difficult to view in 1D.

The biggest challenge is how much of our tech stack is based on raw text. Anything that isn't text-obsessed means you can't use diff, git, grep, vi, etc.



Though it's important to remember that this doesn't necessarily preclude the existence of a "visual git", for instance.
