Cheaters aren't setting fire to the sinking ship. They're escaping via unofficial routes-- ie. they are foregoing the life rafts.

Depends on the ship and its contents.

The 'ship' that is the US higher education system doesn't seem to hold much value, imo. Set it ablaze.
