This is news to me. https://linuxcontainers.org/ and https://github.com/lxc/lxc both seem active and supported by Canonical to me. The only deprecated project by them is listed to be CGManager.

LXC is unsupported by RHEL. They chosen Docker as a primary container solution. LXC as project is fine, of course.
