The answer to your question is basically yes. The "rationality" movement that is usually found in HN and similar groups is the LessWrong crowd, and this was founded by Eliezer Yudkowsky specifically to teach rationality in order to convince people of the threat of superhuman AIs.

While CFAR is technically disconnected from this, it's still part of the same crowd, so obviously a lot of the people related to it (including a lot of the participants) are of the same beliefs.

You could make the case that, if you learn to think rationally about the world, then you realize that superhuman AI actually is a threat. I'd even make this case myself. But that doesn't change the fact that the historically/causally correct reason rationality/AI are connected is because they both started from Eliezer.
