A prototype without an explosive warhead? Congrats on doing the easy bits.

For some people, a layout which spares the pinkies is preferable. The BEAKL layouts, for example, are optimized using a hand model which keeps the pinkies as idle as possible. Sometimes this can make all the difference.

The Linux kernel isn’t that complex. It’s mainly device drivers. Linus wrote the first version himself as a hobby, for crying out loud. AIs will be creating custom kernels within five years, from scratch, as customized as you wish. Probably based on BSD, or other liberally licensed code, for legal reasons.

v0.01 took Linus months of work and even then it barely ran anything. It wasn't POSIX compliant. It couldn't run GNU userspace. It only ran on one arch and had no concept of multi-arch support and limited to no real driver compartmentalization.

It wouldn't be until 2 years later that almost a hundred devs joined the Linux project and they'd gradually have achieved compatibility with GNU userspace. Full POSIX compliance wouldn't come until later.

And it wouldn't be until another year or two later that they'd finally reach a "production ready" 1.0 by which point hundreds of devs were contributing to the project.

You are vastly underestimating the insane amount of work that went into the Linux kernel in the early days to get it to where it is today that it can be developed at such scale and with support for so many intermixed, overlapping, or mutually incompatible features, devices, and platforms. To call that effort (just for core linux, not the drivers) anything less than herculean is frankly an insult to all the people who have dedicated so much time and energy towards that project.

Well the UNIX certification and POSIX comes close. But man pages might be all an AI needs.

GPL licenses are already only a small minority of the total OSS world. But the GPL will die because AI can write equivalent software easily, and it’s more customized to boot. And for that reason OSS will also wither away; there’s little reason to upstream AI changes. Code is cheap and the FSF is a dinosaur.

This is a pro-Communist, anti-Israel propaganda site which publishes articles such as, “Report: North Korea Is Now Beating America in Healthcare, Education, Housing, and Transportation” etc.

For the record, it’s often the case that women to into STEM in countries like Iran and Russia because they are denied opportunity elsewhere.

Learning that in Iran jurisprudence is limited for women, I agree on Iran. But will nitpick on Russia. What do you think is denied for women in Russia that is not denied in US/EU?

Russia decriminalized domestic violence in 2017.

An unreliable source of fast answers says that in February 2017, legislation was signed that downgraded first-time domestic violence offenses that do not cause serious bodily harm--defined as injuries requiring hospital treatment or causing a loss of ability to work--from a criminal offense to an administrative violation.

Not sure how that pushes women to STEM

That title is neither pro-Communist nor anti-Israel. What are you on about?

have a link for that claim?

Well, to be honest most countries in the world beat America in healthcare and transportation, and to lesser degree in education and housing. US are a third world country with big army, that’s it.

> most countries in the world

Can you provide actual statistic to support this claim instead of just saying hip anti-America rhetoric to sound cool?

There are a lot of legitimate criticisms regarding the US infrastructure. I'd even agree with a "most WEIRD countries in the world beat America..." take. But to omit the numerous less privileged countries, or even the less privileged majority part of supposedly powerful countries in order to clown on the US does not sit right with me.

North Korea is absolutely not one of them and you would know if you read even a slight bit about the stories from the defectors, or corroborate their stories with stories from Chinese merchants shipping supplies to North Korea and their interactions with North Korean soldiers.

I’m willing to bet gestating an embryo on Mars will f*k that kid up in a myriad ways. It would be child abuse.

It amuses me that Elon enthusiasts are 99.9% people behaving like teen boys who've never had a conversation with a woman. If women were more widely represented among investors and company leaders, I doubt we would be hearing about baloney like colonizing a planet covered in poisonous dust with no exploitable resources. That kind of thinking doesn't even have a basis in understanding the colonization of our own planet.

This project makes me wish item were faster, because it’s way more useable.

Israel does not need a declaration of war to kill heads of state. Their targeted killing policy has been upheld by their own Supreme Court. Whether international law agrees is another matter.

The US has also done this since 1945 (at least) although executive orders have, at times, placed some restraint on the practice.

Are you aware of the Iran hostage crisis of 1979? Iran has been an enemy of the US since the revolution.
